Spicy Chili Beans

Chili beans was originated from Mexico or Texas. It basically consists of meat, beans, tomatoes with some onion and herbs. If you’d like spicing up your dish, then Chili Beans could probably fit your taste. It has the rich taste of beans, spice and the freshness from tomatoes.

Beans . For the beans, i use Bob’s Red Mill Soup Mix Beans. It basically has all the beans you need. Soak the beans overnight – and after the water is boiling, simmer the beans for an hour. Drain the water and Set aside. To add more flavors, i do soak the beans in beef broth.

Meat . You can use any kind of meat actually, but it is more common to use minced beef in making Chili Beans. If you’re using the ribs, you could actually boil n simmer them with the beans and mince them afterwards.

Tomato paste . You can use canned tomato paste and sauce. I made a chili tomato blend as the tomato paste.

I’d put 3 tomatoes, chopped ; fresh red chilis ; garlic and onion with a little bit of water into the blender to make my chili tomato paste. Saute it until the water reduced.

Ingredients :

  • Soup mix beans
  • Spicy Tomato paste, as i mention above of how i am making it. If you use canned tomato paste, then you’ll need chili flakes to be the spice
  • Chopped tomatoes
  • Tomato sauce
  • Bell peppers, minced
  • Onion ring, minced
  • Minced beef
  • Garlic powder
  • Parsley
  • Italian herbs
  • Seasoning (salt and pepper)

Steps :

  • Once my spicy tomato paste has reduced, i’ll just put everything in and cook it for a while. Add some seasoning and herbs and done.

It’s actually that simple. What’s complicated about this dish is how to soften the beans needs quite a lot of time.
