A Perfect Hard Boiled Eggs

Who knew that even to make a perfect hard boiled eggs actually needs some trick! When you don’t see the green and gray line in your hard boiled egg yolk, then you’ll know that it’s perfectly cooked and boiled.

For this recipe i’d say we only need 3 ingredients which are the eggs of course, water and ice. Because it’s all about timing and simple tricks.

  • First trick is to put the eggs after the water us boiling. Putting it before the water boils will kind of randomize the boiling time. Because we can’t actually predict how much time we need if we are using a stainless steel pan, or cast iron pas or ceramic or glass pan. The safest way to do this is to wait until the water is boiling.
  • Second Trick is to turn off the heat when we put the eggs, to prevent them from cracking. Then turn it on straight after all the eggs are safely put inside the pan.
  • Third trick is all about timing. For a pergect hard boiled eggs, you want it to be 12-14 minutes and not more. Use your timer to time it. For a jammy soft boiled eggs like the ones they put in korean ramen, means you can try either 6-6.5 minutes. You can try various of time from 6, 8 and 10 minutes in looking for your favorite soft boiled eggs.
  • Fourth Trick is be ready with your ice water in a bowl before you pick up the eggs. So when you pick up the eggs from the pan, you can put it straight to the ice water to stop the cooking process. This way, you won’t have an overcooked hard boiled eggs that will result in green thing in the yolk.
